TERMS & CONDITIONS for the sale of your foreign-language related products or services on our site. The following stipulations apply.

YOU, THE SELLER: We accept sellers of both individual and multiple items, new or secondhand, but in all cases the items must constitute an aid to language-learning or language maintenance. Purely English language items are not permissible unless they are translations of foreign writers or artistes. When in doubt, e-mail The Language Of....

You agree that if the item(s) you sell is/are secondhand, it/they must be clean, in reasonable condition, not torn, badly damaged or stained, and if the item has operational functions, then all must be in perfect working order. It is not acceptable to sell a broken, partially- or non-functioning item, whether new or secondhand.

You must not sell any stolen goods, or materials of an offensive, pornographic, racially or hate/violence inciteful nature on our site.

You agree to provide true and honest information about yourself when registering, and about the products in the description you post on our site. If the Language Of... discovers or suspects any untoward or dishonest activity, they will not hesitate to refer it to the appropriate authority and remove you from The Language Of... website.

We will not accept an item without an image and brief description. The item(s) you sell may only be despatched from the UK; it/they must be in your possession and despatched immediately upon receipt of order. Should you know in advance that you will be unable to fulfil an order immediately, due to a planned absence, please make use of our Hide Button, which enables you to “hide” an item from our sales pages until such time as you wish to reinstate the sale.

You are expected to despatch the item by first class post to your buyer, unless the weight of the item exceeds the cost of first class post, in which case second class post will be acceptable. See “Costs & Pricing” below for additional comment about postal rates.

The items you send must be sensibly and securely packaged for safe delivery. When you submit an item for sale, it will be held in a queue until checked that it meets our criteria. This may take a day or more, depending on the nature of the item you have submitted and on the number of other submissions we are handling on any given day.

If we receive a complaint concerning either the item you sell, or delivery you arrange, we will of course investigate the possible valid reasons behind the complaint, but reserve the right to refuse any further applications from you to sell on our site.

An item may remain on the site until such time as it is sold, or when you choose to remove it. Once submitted and accepted for sale on The Language Of... site you will not be able to amend the details or image you have previously provided. A new separate submission must be made for a different item.

COSTS AND PRICING: There is no upfront fee for the individual seller in order to post your item on our website. You must use our fixed postage rates. Sellers cannot set their own postal rates. If you know that your item will cost more than our rates, due to its weight (for example, hardback books will cost more to send), then please factor the extra cost into the price of your item and be clear in your description that this is the case. For information on our up to day rates, please refer to our Delivery & Returns page.

Where a customer buys a number of different items from the same supplier, postage for the first item will be calculated on the basis of the item which charges the highest postage, and postage for additional items will be calculated according to the stated price for additional items in their appropriate category;

Where a customer buys a number of different items, but only one item has been bought from each supplier, then the rate of postage for the first item will also apply to each of the purchases. At the point of sale, The Language Of... will charge a flat commission of 18% on the total sales price, including postage and packing charges.

PAYMENT TO THE SELLER BY THE LANGUAGE OF...: Payment will be made to the seller’s account 10 working days after the date of sale. The delay in payment is to safeguard against dispute between buyer and seller on matters of the item’s condition or non-delivery.
