It is often said that the British are notoriously bad at learning languages and that they simply assume that everyone else speaks English. It's a blanket statement and in the very multi-cultural Britain in which we live today, and despite the drop in take up of language learning at schools and universities in recent years, there is a now growing recognition of the need to speak more than one language if you want to progress career-wise, as well as enjoy the many social and cultural benefits that speaking at least one other language can bring to your life.

The Language Of... was established in 2006 with the idea of making contemporary, easy-reading literature from other countries, and in their own language, more easily available in the U.K.

Now in August 2010 we have expanded that idea towards becoming an online marketplace for all foreign language products and services: a place where visitors to our site can buy and sell foreign language books, audio books, audio, visual or paper language learning materials, DVDs, CDs, Blu Ray, PC or video games, board games, electronic translators, dictionaries, e-readers loaded with foreign language books – in fact any language-related item! Plus, they can access information on language service providers, whether that be a language course, a languages holiday, translation and interpreting services, language employment opportunities and more, either via our Links directory, our News Page or simply looking at who is advertising on our site. The aim is to build a one-stop shop and reference point for all your language needs.

It is the hope that The Language Of.. will attract, and offer a service to, both those who have ever learnt a foreign language and wish to retain their knowledge of that language, as well as to those living in Britain, whose first language is not English and who want to stay in touch with the language of their homeland. But most of all, we simply want you to enjoy access to authors, artistes and products from all around the world!

New foreign language products can be expensive to buy in the U.K., and if you buy from overseas you can expect to pay high, additional delivery costs. So, why not buy from us. And once you have finished with the item you bought, and if you don’t wish to keep it, why not re-cycle and regain some of the initial purchase price, by selling it again on The Language Of ...
